China’s Ministry of Commerce announced countermeasures in response to recent US actions concerning Chinese technology imports and goods linked to alleged forced labour in Xinjiang.
The ministry barred Chinese parties from dealing with US biotechnology company Applied DNA Sciences and five other US entities. It said the entities had supported US sanctions concerning Xinjiang.
The ministry also strengthened controls on exports to the United States of drones, key drone components, and related technologies included on a dual-use control list. It said export applications would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
The announcement followed a US decision the previous week to add 43 Chinese companies to a list barring their goods from import into the United States over alleged links to forced labour in Xinjiang.
